“North America Telugu Society(NATS) launched a new service initiative ‘NATS Libraries’ recently and it had become a great success and want to give you an update on this program. As part of this ‘NATS libraries’ program, NATS helped in setting up libraries in various government schools in following Mandals of Prakasm District, Andhra Pradesh – Maddipadu, Vangaluru, Mundlamuru, Podhili, Martur etc. So far, NATS helped in setting up these libraries in over 10 government schools. Initially it was started in just one school. Due to overwhelming participation and generous donation from several individuals, these libraries were setup in over 10 Villages in just few weeks span. Thanks so much to NATS Treasurer Srinivas Manchikalapudi for coordinating this effort. He was greatly helped by Srinivas Gullapalli and Dr.Venkat Bodavula from St.Louis. Following people also actively contributed for setting up these libraries – Harish Vajja, Kiran Polineni, Kishore Gundlapalli, Chinna Muccherla, Sridhar Nagaboyina, Shaila Thalluri, Eswara Reddy Ragipindi, Sucheendra Avulapati etc

The villages where these NATS libraries were setup are:

Tellapadu,
Gundlapalli,
Chandhaluru,
Nagulapalla Padu,
Edara village,
Varaparla village
Gangavaram,
Podhili Govt high school etc and few more villages.

For every school, NATS donated over 500 books to set up these libraries. These books are not related to their Class Subjects and these books are outside of the school curriculum. These books are mainly related to – enhance children’s general knowledge, skills development, personality development, to increase kids interest in book reading and to increase awareness on various topics like Inventions, Social Affairs, History, Arts, Financials, Sports etc to the children in Government schools. There was lot of appreciation for this program from the local community. Prakasam District Z.P.Chairman Edara Hari Babu garu actively participated in this initiative and appreciated NATS. Many local officials and government representatives also helped us with the logistics and actively involved in making this program, a big success. We are going to expand this ‘NATS libraries’ program to various other districts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states.” Said Mr.Mannava Mohana Krishna, NATS President in a press note.
