The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has terminated the visa records of several current and former international students at Central Michigan University, according to a letter from university officials. The terminations were discovered during routine SEVIS reviews, with no prior notice to the university or affected students.

CMU stated it cannot reverse the decision or provide legal aid, but its Office of International Student and Scholar Services is monitoring student records daily and will notify anyone impacted. No ICE or CBP officers have been reported on campus, though certain areas now require judicial warrants for entry.

University leaders reaffirmed support for international students, urging the campus community to show compassion. The move comes amid broader federal scrutiny of student visa holders. CBS News Detroit has contacted other Michigan universities for comment.
