The city of Milpitas in the Bay Area has been filled with the fragrance of flowers and the melody of Bathukamma songs recently. The Bathukamma festival, organized by the Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA), was held with great pomp and show in a traditional and cultural manner. Over 800 spectators – adults and children along with their families – attended, making the celebration vibrant with colorful Bathukammas.

Chief guests included Dr. K. Srikar Reddy, Consul General of India, San Francisco, and his wife Pratima Reddy, alongside representatives from several community organizations. Their presence added grandeur to the event.

Bathukamma, known as the flower festival from Telangana, was celebrated abroad with equal fervor. Women gathered in circles, singing Bathukamma and pallakili songs. Special performances by popular actress Udaya Bhanu, dance expert Kondru Hussain, and lively anchor Rachana captivated the audience.

Mrs. Jhansi Reddy, Vice President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and Founder & Advisory Chair of WETA, attended the celebrations. Her role in women's empowerment and community service, especially for the Telangana diaspora, was highlighted during the festival. WETA's Bathukamma celebrations once again showcased their commitment to preserving Telugu culture and traditions abroad.
